A Riddle: What is greater than God, More evil than the devil, The poor have it, The rich need it, And if you eat it, you'll die?

The Neighbor Next Door There was a little old lady who would come out every morning on the steps of her front porch, raise her arms to the sky, and shout, "Praise the Lord!" Well, one day an atheist moved into the house next door. Over time, he became irritated at the little old lady. So every morning he would step out onto his front porch and yell after her, "There is no Lord!" Time passed with the two of them carrying on this way every day. Then one morning in the middle of winter, the little old lady stepped onto her font porch and shouted, "Praise the Lord! Lord, I have no food and I am starving. Please provide for me, oh Lord!" The next morning, she stepped onto her porch and there were two huge bags of groceries sitting there. Praise the Lord!" she cried out. "He has provided groceries for me!" The atheist jumped out of the hedges and shouted, "There is no Lord. I bought those groceries!" The little old lady threw her arms into the air and shouted, "Praise the Lord! He provided me with groceries, and He made the devil pay for them!"

Happy Birthday

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT…CHILD TRAINING continued
By J. Richard Fugate

Continued from the introduction: Parents who utilize this system consistently from the time their children are very young have God’s guarantee of success. It is possible for even those parents who have failed in training their child during the early years to gain control and still produce an obedient and respectful child.

Proverbs 10:1a “…A wise son maketh a glad father.”
Proverbs 23:24 & 25 “The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice, and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him. Thy father and thy mother shall be glad, and she that bore thee shall rejoice.”
Proverbs 29:17 “Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul.”
Proverbs 31:28 “Her children rise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.”

God’s Word often contrasts wisdom with foolishness. One who acts wisely is one who utilizes truth in living, while the fool is one who goes his own way in ignorance or in rebellion. The previous Bible verses promise great joy and happiness to parents who raise a wise child. In the Proverbs 31:28 passage, a mother is shown to receive special honor as her children grow up and begin to glorify her through their lives. What a contrast to the conditions in our civilization today in which the m other is neither respected in her role nor appreciated for her teaching.
The present condition in our civilization demonstrates how far our culture has deviated from the truth of God’s Word. The Bible is not unrealistic, we are merely reaping the cursing that results from man’s failure to utilize God’s truth. Parents who resort to a human system of child training will miss the blessings promised by God and receive instead the natural consequences of cursing for ignorance of, or disobedience to, truth.

The Cursing

Proverbs 10:1b “…a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother.”
Proverbs 17:21 “He that begetteth a fool doeth it to his sorrow; and the father of a fool hath no joy.”
Proverbs 29:15b “…a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.”

These verses give a clear description of what parents will experience if they fail in training their children. The heaviness that the mother will feel in raising a foolish child is the weight of sadness and extreme sorrow. She will even experience shame from raising a child who is sent off to face life without being properly trained. The father of a fool (one who rejects both God and the truth of God’s Word) will also experience sadness and a lack of internal happiness.
