Prayer Requests:
Women’s Bible Study: Tonight at 6pm at Renee Corbett’s house. There will be some parking at the house. If you are able, she suggests you park at the parking lot on the left side as you turn on to Hill Street and walk up to the house.
Men’s Bible Study: There will be a men’s Bible study at Dave Corbett’s house at 6 pm. All men are welcome.
Women of Witness Helping Hands: It is time once again for WOW to begin collecting school supplies for area children. Please consider donating bookbags, notebooks, pencils, crayons or any other items suggested on the school lists. Donations can be given to Robin or placed in collection boxes found at area stores or just outside of the Women of Witness office (305 Main St). Also, if you would like assistance with school supplies, see Robin. Thanks and God bless.
Stewardship: The careful and responsible management of something entrusted to one’s care. If you turn on an air conditioner, please turn it off. On Monday mornings for the past 3 weeks I have found AC Units running with doors wide open. This week’s wasn’t found until Wednesday.
Congratulations! Walt Osborne and Cheryl Matthews were united in Holy Matrimony on Saturday. Rejoice with them as they thank God for this blessed event.
I was having a talk with the Lord the other day and discussing my wonder about those members of Word Worship Center who did not attend the revival even one night. He spoke to my heart and said, “Robin, I told you in My Word that the poor would always be among you.” I said, “Yes, Lord. But You were talking about people who didn’t have money.” He quietly said, “Selah.” (Think about it.)
As I pondered on this little exchange, I thought about how the word “poor” might have a definition beyond “no money”. So I looked it up in the dictionary.
First definition: having little or no money, goods, or other means of support; nothing different here to bring me to an understanding.
Definition number three started to get my attention: meagerly supplied or endowed with resources. Hmmmm. Could it be that some are meagerly supplied with the spiritual resources supplied to us by God Himself? Why that would be like the poor of this world having a grocery store in the neighborhood offering free groceries but a person walks out with a pack of gum to help them “get by”. Insane!!
And then definition number five jumped out at me: deficient or lacking in something specified. The Word of God teems with Scriptures to help us fight our flesh and commit ourselves wholeheartedly to God. When you love the Lord with all your heart, and all your soul, and all your strength, you want to be with Him at every opportunity. You’ll love what He loves and hate what He hates. And as I realized how very much He loved the revival I grew sad.
My heart aches with the thought that my beloved church family includes those who are allowing themselves to be deficient of the Word of God. And then I feel angry at Satan because the Scripture reads, For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Satan is working so slyly against my loved ones! How I wish he were in the pit already! He is defeated by the testimony of our mouths. Are you living a testimony?
Sweethearts, I have a Word of encouragement for you. It says in Deuteronomy 15:4 However, there should be no poor among you, for in the land the LORD your God is giving you to possess as your inheritance, he will richly bless you!
Beloved, your inheritance is Heaven and each and every hour we spend upon this earth is an hour closer to entering in to that promised land where the streets are gold and where our Lover abides! Stop living like a pauper! Remember: he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
