WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT…CHILD TRAINING continued
By J. Richard Fugate
God’s Promise of Blessing for Children
Proverbs 3: 1 & 2 “My son, forget not my law, but let thine heart keep my commandments; For length of days, and long life, and peace shall they add to thee.”
We can again see the principle of truth as it applies to a child’s becoming obedient and honoring his parents. When this truth is observed, the result is blessing; when not, the result is cursing. Parents who truly love their children will desire the best for them. These parents will see that their child honors them so he will receive God’s promised blessing.
Parental authority is not without restraint. God, Himself, is responsible to His character of righteousness, justice, and love to deal with every child in a manner that is consistent with His character. We can trust totally that since God ordained the institution of parental authority, He will be fair and just to every child who is placed under each entity of this institution. There have been, and will be, evil individuals who become parental authorities just as there are evil leaders in government. Those parents who misuse their authority fall under the direct judgment of God. When we see a child receive what we consider mistreatment from such parents, we must remember that God is in control and has chosen to place the soul life of that child under those parents specifically.

Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, 'Woe to those who call evil good,’ but that is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values. We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery. We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare. We have killed our unborn and called it choice. We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable. We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem. We have abused power and called it politics. We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition. We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression. We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment. Search us, Oh, God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and set us free. I pray this in the name of Christ. Amen!
