WELCOME: Tim Guinther, our Gideon speaker this morning.

Guitar Lessons: Thursday, 6:00pm, here at the church.

Mother/Daughter Banquet: Ladies mark your calendars for May 12, 1:00pm, at Kid’s America. Plan to bring a covered dish. Lena Crouso will be our guest speaker. Bring your mother, daughter, daughter-in-law, someone close to your heart, or join those of us who will be attending alone. This will be a fun time together. There is a sign-up sheet on the table or register in the entryway at the Central Elementary side.

National Day of Prayer: Women of Witness is sponsoring a “Read the Bible in 15 Minutes Rally” on May 3 at 7pm at the courthouse square. We need 365 people to participate in this and ask you to lend a hand. The entire Bible will be read in 15 minutes with folks facing north, south, east, and west as they read their assigned portion. There is no age limit on this; only requirement is that you can read. Please sign up on the sheet in the entryway (one or the other) so that I can get your scripture assignment. This must be turned in today. Sis. Becky Treat is heading up another activity with the children where they will place a prayer in a balloon and then conduct a balloon launch.

Clothing Give-Away: I am cleaning out the clothing room I keep for Women of Witness-basically all dress clothes or items that I’ve had for too long. They will be hanging on the coat rack in the entryway facing Walnut St. Please don’t hesitate to see if there’s something you or anyone you know can use.

A BIG THANK-YOU to those who helped Sis. Deb Frye move. That was definitely putting feet to your Christianity. Thanks for that, too.

Bake Sale: Looking for baked goods for fundraiser to benefit Children’s Hospital at Rite Aid on April 28. See Sis. Brandy Mullins.

WHAT
THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT…CHILD TRAINING continued By J. Richard Fugate

No Authority Exists Except As Appointed by God

Romans 13:1 “Let every soul be subject unto the higher power. For there is no
power but of God; the powers that be are ordained by God.”

The Greek word translated “power” means “authority, the right to decide or act, ruling or official powers.” God commands every individual to place himself willingly under the positions of rulership that exist above him. How do we dare do this? We can submit to our authorities because the verse then states that no ruling power exists except through God. Every position of authority is under His control. The verse continues by stating that all existing authorities have been established by God. The word translated “ordained” means “to place, station, appoint or determine someone into an official position over others.” It is the Greek word from which the theological term “institution” is derived. God has instituted all existing positions of rulership over His creatures to carry out His will and to administer justice to those under their rule.

WHY DO WE CLAP OUR HANDS? Psalm 47:1 O clap your hands all ye people; shout unto God with a voice of triumph. WHY DO WE RAISE OUR HANDS? Psalm 63:4 Thus will I bless Thee: I will lift up my hands in Thy name. WHY DO WE SING PRAISES? Psalm 147:1 Praise ye the Lord: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant, and praise is comely. WHY DO WE DANCE? Psalm 149:3 Let them praise the Lord in the dance; let them sing praises unto Him with the timbrel and harp. WHY DO WE HAVE MUSIC IN OUR WORSHIP? Psalm 150:4 Praise Him with the timbrel and dance; praise Him with the stringed instruments. WHY DO WE WORSHIP? Psalm 28:2 Give unto the Lord the glory due His name; worship him in the beauty of holiness.
