HellStop: Cornerstone Full Gospel Church will have HellStop once again this year. HellStop is an outdoor, anti-drinking & driving docudrama, with a Gospel message at the end. The dates and times for this year’s event are: October 13th, 14th, 20th, 21st, 27th, and 28th. Tickets go on sale at 6:00pm – 11:00pm with the groups starting their journey at 7:00pm. There is indoor waiting with games and a concession stand for your enjoyment while you wait. The cost is $5 per person or $4 for groups of 20 or more. Does anybody want to try to go down as a group? (This takes place in Duncan Falls). Due to the graphic reality that is portrayed, ages 11 and under must be accompanied by their parents/guardian. A sign-up sheet is on the radiator in the Walnut Street vestibule.. Please sign up if you think you would like to car pool down. Thanks.

A Christmas Fellowship is being planned for December 15. More details will come later. A Silent Auction is going to be a part of the fun. Donations are needed to make it a success. If you have something nice to donate, please give your donation to Brandy Mullins or Julie Mulford. Thank you.

A Thanksgiving Fellowship is in the works. Please sign-up on the sheet hanging on the bulletin board in the vestibule at the Walnut Street entrance.

Matt Smith’s parents, Gene & Robin, have invited Word Worship Center to come to their church to see a play called, “The Weight of Sin”. They both have parts in the play, which was written by Gene who is also co-director. It will be October 21 at 6:30pm at their church. If you are interested in going with us, see Pastor Jim or Robin.

A benefit spaghetti dinner is being planned for November 3 to help the pastors with their medical bills. We are so amazed by the generous spirit that this congregation exhibits!! Your love for us is absolutely overwhelming!! But we want to take a moment to set your hearts at ease lest you worry about us. We rest solely in the arms of God. No matter where we go or what happens, we are His. We thank Him for His loving care and trust Him to the fullest. This is the peace that passes understanding that only He can give.

A sad state of affairs indeed! My heart sank as I read the email sent to me by a Christian friend. (Not from WWC) It was one of those “funny” emails created to bring a big chuckle to the reader. It was the story of “Little Tony” and his escapades at school. What followed was a series of jokes the likes of which were found in the Playboy Magazines of the 70’s. My emotions ran through a quick exchange of feelings which included offense that she would think I read such things to the sadness that a self proclaimed Christian would lower herself to share such things. I wonder if she was hitting the “send” button
in the name of Jesus? Or perhaps some Christians don’t consider themselves ambassadors of Christ. (We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors…2 Corinthians 5:20) Or maybe that’s only when they are in the presence of other Christians. Do they forget Jesus is ever present? (And surely I am with you always…Matthew 28:20) Do they think the “potty mouth” is just fun and games? Not really harming anything? (Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths…Ephesians 4:29) I shudder to think what it will be like when she stands before God and He asks her to explain. You see, I can handle it just fine. I glance at the email, get a general idea of the subject matter, and hit delete. A done deal for me. But she still has to answer for it. Someone tells an off color joke to me or makes a funny “sexual” statement, I can turn my back and ignore it. The person who just spoke it to me has to answer for it. Christian, don’t do as the world does. Don’t you do it!!! Don’t send an email that you wouldn’t send to Jesus. Don’t tell a joke that you wouldn’t tell to Jesus. Don’t make a sexual statement that you wouldn’t say to Jesus. Don’t offend the Spirit of God that lives in me. Please. I can do without it thank you very much. Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy- think about such things. Philippians 4:8. Beloved, if you find yourself caught up in this kind of humor, fall on your face and repent then plead with your Father in Heaven for a renewal of your mind. You don’t want to soil your witness! YOU are a chosen people, a royal priesthood (1 Peter 2:9) created for good works in Christ. Rise up to the calling, Beloved!!! Just do it!
