Prayer Requests:
1. Ora Ice – Recently diagnosed blind; having trouble dealing with the reality of life with no sight
2. Unspoken – a troubled marriage
3. Jessie Jago - diabetes problems
Secret Sisters: There are a couple of envelopes on the table. Don’t forget to draw your new name! Those envelopes mean there are two ladies who are not being loved by a Secret Sister. Please draw your name if you haven’t done it yet.
Donations are needed for the silent auction at the Christmas Party on December 15. Gently used items in good shape are fine or an antique item that would make a nice gift. We thought perhaps you could find some items to use as Christmas gifts. So if you have something that would make a suitable gift, please consider donating it to our auction. If you have something to donate, please see Brandy Mullins or Julie Mulford. Thank you.
A Thanksgiving Fellowship is in the works. Please sign-up on the sheet hanging on the bulletin board in the vestibule at the Walnut Street entrance. This will be a covered dish dinner. We have 2 turkeys coming already.
Matt Smith’s parents, Gene & Robin, have invited Word Worship Center to come to their church to see a play called, “The Weight of Sin”. They both have parts in the play, which was written by Gene who is also co-director. It will be October 21 at 6:30pm at their church. If you are interested in following us down or need directions, see Pastor Jim.
Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser: The family of Brandon Williams is holding a spaghetti dinner to raise funds to pay for funeral/medical expenses. It will take place October 22 at the Moose Lodge from 1:00 to 6:00. Sandy Brown is selling tickets for them. Wouldn’t it be great to have a group from Word Worship Center go after service? We could stay after church and visit over a cup of coffee or throw some cards while we waited to go over at 1:00. See Robin if interested.
Youth Group seeking donations for Oct. 20 & 21 fundraiser. Needed: Sloppy Joe, Creamed Chicken, Buns, Pop, $ donation to pay $31 food license. See Ernie or Teresa Carpenter if you can help.
I would like to encourage you ladies to attend the Women of Witness Fall Rally. I have heard guest speaker, Silvia Tarniceriu, speak and I think she will bless your hearts. You do not have to miss it for lack of money. I’ll pay your $2 because I want to see you blessed (Robin)
CONGRATULATIONS TO DON AND BECKY ROSS: Became new grandparents to Adison Ross born to their daughter Sarah this past Wednesday.
Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:19-21
Why do I attend church service every time the door is open? Because I treasure my relationship with Jesus and I treasure the House of God. That is where my heart abides. Nothing on this earth is more important. The thoughts and senses of this mortal body must submit to the longings of my heart. My heart longs to be with Jesus in the Sanctuary of Almighty God. I will have it no other way. My soul does rejoice in the presence of the Almighty. And no power on this earth can take that from me. No matter how tired or lazy this body feels, no matter how “uninterested” this brain insists it is, no matter how much more important things “seem” to be, I’ll not be denied the presence of my Lord and Savior. And I will dwell in the House of the Lord forever and ever. What a great Treasure!! Amen.
The hounds of hell took what I wrote last week (written above) and decided to prove me wrong. You see, I was sick most of last week and missed Wednesday night service. I can hear darkness laughing in my face and sneering, “Consider yourself denied!!!” It took a serious attack against my body, (I was thinking I might be heading toward pneumonia again), but I was denied the opportunity to attend church service. However, prayer prevailed and Light won the battle. I am up and doing well once again. And guess what? I was not denied the presence of my Lord and Savior. He cradled me in His arms Wednesday night as the Sanctuary came to me while I was incapable of going to the Sanctuary. Why do I attend church every time the doors are open? “To the faithful you show yourself faithful, to the blameless you show yourself blameless.” Psalm 18:25 With that kind of assurance why would I even want to choose anything over Him and His Services? I’ll never find that kind of love in any other source. What a treasure!!!

Life Relived by Mark VanFossen
If we could just
Relive our past life
Redo what was done
What would we alter
What would we omit
To make our life
A more pleasant one
Would we change events?
To enhance someone’s life
Or improve our own
Would our thoughts be
On helping one another
When we were alone?
Would we change our
Original focus on life?
Reroute the trek which
We had once trod
And center our attention
Less on the world
And more on God
When death finally approaches
Knocking at life’s door
Can we say we
Experienced peace and joy
While walking around on
Earth’s dusty dirt floor.
Tod Darner and Robin Gross will be standing at the exit doors to collect signatures for a petition. Without saying too much for discretionary reasons, it would be well worth your time to see what we’re hoping to influence. The title: Community Defense Act. It is something that will affect all of us, so please take time to see what it’s all about and consider signing your name to take a stand for decency. Thank you.
Brother, can you spare a dime? Robin Gross is taking up a collection to help some folks with emergency heating costs. No amount is too small.
When God created the dog, He said: “Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or walks past. For this I will give you a life span of twenty years.” The dog said: “That’s a long time to be barking. How about only ten years and I’ll give you back the other ten?” So God agreed. Next, God ated the monkey and said: “Entertain people, do tricks, and make them laugh. For this, I’ll give you a twenty year life span.” The monkey said: “Monkey tricks for twenty years? That’s a pretty long time to perform. How about I give you back ten ke the dog did?” And God agreed. God then created the cow and said: “You must go into the field with the farmer all day long and suffer under the sun, have calves and give milk to support the farmer’s family. For this, I will give you a life span of sixty years.” The cow sid: “That’s kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty years. How about twenty and I’ll give back the other forty?” And God agreed again. Finally, God created man and said: “Eat, sleep, play, marry and enjoy your life. For this, I’ll give you twenty years. But man said: “Only twenty years? Could you possibly give me my twenty, the forty the cow gave back, the ten the monkey gave back, and the ten the dog gave back; that makes eighty, okay?” “Okay,” said God, “You asked for it.” So that is why the first twenty years we eat, sleep, play and enjoy ourselves. For the next forty years we slave in the sun to support our family. For the next ten years we do monkey tricks to entertain the grandchildren. And for the last ten years we sit on the front porch and bark at everyone. Life has now been explained to you.
