'Twas the night before Jesus came and all through the house
Not a creature was praying, not one in the house.
Their Bibles were lain on the shelf without care
In hopes that Jesus would not come there.

The children were dressing to crawl into bed.

Not once ever kneeling or bowing a head.

And Mom in her rocker with baby on her lap

Was watching the Late Show while I took a nap.

When out of the East there arose such a clatter.

I sprang to my feet to see what was the matter.

Away to the window I flew like a flash,

Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash!

When what to my wondering eyes should appear

But angels proclaiming that Jesus was here.

With a light like the sun sending forth a bright ray

I knew in a moment this must be THE DAY!

The light of His face made me cover my head

It was Jesus! returning just like He had said.

And though I possessed worldly wisdom and wealth,

I cried when I saw Him in spite of myself.

In the Book of Life which He held in His hand

Was written the name of every saved man.

He spoke not a word as He searched for my name;

When He said, "it's not here" my head hung in shame.

The people whose names had been written with love

He gathered to take to His Father above.

With those who were ready He rose without a sound.

While all the rest were left standing around.

I fell to my knees, but it was too late;

I had waited too long and thus sealed my fate.

I stood and I cried as they rose out of sight;

Oh, if only I had been ready tonight.

In the words of this poem the meaning is clear;

The coming of Jesus is drawing near.

There's only one life and when comes the last call

We'll find that the Bible was true after all!

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Christmas Fellowship: Will be at the Keene Grange on St Rt 83 on December 16, this Friday starting at 6pm. This is always a great time of fellowship and food. Bring a covered dish and some holiday cheer to share with your church family Hope you can come

Christmas Blessings: You have done a great job as unto the Lord! If anything is laid upon your heart, by all means, get it and bring it in Still looking for drivers. Also, we are accepting submissions to receive the blessing. There is no guarantee that your submission will be accepted, but if you know of someone who could use it, write down the name, address, phone # and # of people in the household (how many kids, how many adults) and give it to Sis Robin. Please do not submit any household that is receiving government help with food or already getting food from area food pantries. We want to give a helping hand to those who are working but could use a little help.

Christmas Help: Just wondering if anyone would like to help with Christmas presents for some kids who won’t get much of anything without help. We have a 13 year old boy who likes radio control cars and football. His mom said he’s not picky at all and anything he gets will be appreciated. He wears size 12 pants and a medium or large shirt. Then we have 9 yr old boy: 10 slim pants, 10 shirt. 8 year old girl: 10 reg, 10 top. 7 year old girl: 8 slim, 8 top; 5 year old girl: 6x pants, 6/7 top. Any gift would be fine. It’s ok to gift-wrap or I can do it. See Robin to donate. Thanks.

May there always be work for your hands to do;

May your purse always hold a coin
 or two;

May the sun always shine on your windowpane;

May a rainbow be certain to
 follow each rain;

May the hand of a friend always be near
you;

May God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you.

When Your Hut’s On Fire:
The only survivor of a shipwreck was washed up on a small, uninhabited island. He prayed feverishly for God to rescue him. Every day he scanned the horizon for help, but none seemed forthcoming. Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little hut out of driftwood to protect him from the elements, and to store his few possessions. One day, after scavenging for food, he arrived home to find his little hut in flames, with smoke rolling up to the sky. He felt the worst had happened, and everything was lost. He was stunned with disbelief, grief, and anger. He cried out, "God! How could you do this to me?" Early the next day, he was awakened by the sound of a ship approaching the island! It had come to rescue him! "How did you know I was here?" asked the weary man of his rescuers. "We saw your smoke signal," they replied.

The Moral of This Story:  It's easy to get discouraged when things are going bad, but we shouldn't lose heart, because God is at work in our lives, even in the midst of our pain and suffering. Remember that the next time your little hut seems to be burning to the ground. It just may be a smoke signal that summons the Grace of God.
