A woman was trying hard to get the catsup to come out of the jar. During her struggle the phone rang so she asked her four-year old daughter to answer the phone. "It's the minister, Mommy," the child said to her mother. Then she added, "Mommy can't come to the phone to talk to you right now. She's hitting the bottle."
• A little boy got lost at the YMCA and found himself in the women's locker room. When he was spotted, the room burst into shrieks, with ladies grabbing towels and running for cover. The little boy watched in amazement and then asked, "What's the matter --haven't you ever seen a little boy before?"
• I've learned...that we should be glad God doesn't give us everything we ask for.
• After the christening of his baby brother in church, Jason sobbed all the way home in the back seat of the car. His father asked him three times what was wrong. Finally, the boy replied, "That preacher said he wanted us brought up in a Christian home, and I wanted to stay with you guys."
• I had been teaching my three-year old daughter, Caitlin, the Lord's Prayer for several evenings at bedtime. She would repeat after me the lines from the prayer. Finally, she decided to go solo. I listened with pride as she carefully enunciated each word, right up to the end of the prayer: "Lead us not into temptation," she prayed, "but deliver us from E-mail.”

Somebody has said there are only two kinds of people in the world. There are those who wake up in the morning and say, 'Good morning, Lord,' and there are those who wake up in the morning and say, 'Good Lord, it's morning.'

2 Cor. 9:8
Dear One: You are not here, at this
moment in time by some mere coincidence any more than
you are on this planet by some random act of fate. I
created you and I have a unique purpose for your life
that you and only you can fulfill.
Many things vie for your attention and affection, but
your life is about much more than what you can see
with your own eyes or touch with your own hands. I
love you, I love you so much that I sent Jesus to
this earth so that you and I could be reconciled. His
death was the ultimate expression of My love for you.
In Jesus, My love is revealed, and I long for you to
know the peace, freedom and forgiveness for which He
died. I gave up everything I loved to demonstrate my
impassioned love for you. ---Jesus' death for your
life.-- His rescue is for all who call on Him as
Savior, including you.
You may or may not be aware right now that you need
to be saved. But beloved you do.
Your dependencies will not last and your securities
will fail, but take comfort, because I know what
tomorrow holds. I see you and I know your thoughts,
fears, concerns and secrets. I know you better than
anyone and I love you more than anyone ever could.
It's My desire to lavish My love on you.
So Come to Me...I will give you rest.
Come to Me...I will give you peace.
Come to Me...I will carry you no matter what your
life is or will be.
Come to Me...and I will be your constant rescue.
Come to Me by coming to Jesus, who came for you.
Love,
Your Heavenly Father

THE OLD PATHS
I liked the old paths, when Moms were at home.
Dads were at work. Brothers went into the army.
And sisters got married BEFORE having children!
Crime did not pay; Hard work did;
And people knew the difference.
Moms could cook; Dads would work;
Children would behave.
Husbands were loving; Wives were supportive;
And children were polite.
Women wore the jewelry; And Men wore the pants.
Women looked like ladies; Men looked like gentlemen;
And children looked decent.
People loved the truth, And hated a lie;
They came to church to get IN, Not to get OUT!
Hymns sounded Godly; Sermons sounded helpful;
Rejoicing sounded normal; And crying sounded sincere.
Cursing was wicked; Drugs were for illness;
And divorce was unthinkable.
The flag was honored; America was beautiful;
And God was welcome!
We read the Bible in public; Prayed in school;
And preached from house to house To be called an American was worth dying for;
To be called a Christian was worth living for; To be called a traitor was a shame!
Preachers preached because they had a message;
And Christians rejoiced because they had the VICTORY!
Preachers preached from the Bible; Singers sang from the heart;
And sinners turned to the Lord to be SAVED!
A new birth meant a new life;
Salvation meant a changed life;
Following Christ led to eternal life.
Being a preacher meant you proclaimed the word of
God;
Being a deacon meant you would serve the Lord;
Being a Christian meant you would live for Jesus;
And being a sinner meant someone was praying for you!
Laws were based on the Bible; Homes read the
Bible;
And churches taught the Bible.
God was worshiped; Christ was exalted; And the Holy
Spirit was respected..
Church was where you found Christians on the Lord's
day, rather than in the garden,
on the creek bank, on the golf course, Or being
entertained somewhere else.
I still like the old paths the
best!

From Pastor’s Rib,
Just like the song we sing, “I’m not moved by what I feel, no, I’m only moved by the Word that’s real,” God’s children are called to live by faith and not by their feelings and emotions. Even though it is not always easy to do this, our thoughts and actions are supposed to be based on faith in God and His Word, which is where we find His will.
It reminds me of a story I once read where a man and his wife were standing on the deck of a ship one evening. The darkness was immense since the moon was not shining and the clouds blocked out the stars. As they looked out over the ocean, they couldn’t see any lights of any kind. The darkness was so utterly black, they couldn’t even tell where the horizon was located.
He told how he realized that the captain had to have a lot of faith in his instruments as the ship cruised at full speed into the total blackness. “A total faith” is what that captain and his crew showed in the modern equipment that navigated that ship through those dark waters and landed them safely to shore the next morning.
2 Corinthians 5:7 instructs us to live and walk by faith. If we are to do that, we must get our eyes off of the circumstances and darkness around us and rely on God to see us through. Oftentimes, our feelings are unreliable and will lead us “off course.”
In this age of insecurity, God’s Word stands firm and secure. We can be sure that the promises of God give us a firm foundation. When we depend on Him to guide us, He will direct our paths rightly. A life directed and led by the Holy Spirit is a life of steadfastness and stability, unmoved by the splashing “waves”.
Darkness of night and the dangers that surround us will never keep the Spirit-filled Christian from arriving at our final destination – Heaven, the land of milk and honey, blessings and rewards.
Maybe we need to go home and explore the Word to find out what it is to “walk by faith” and seek God to lead us.
Have a God blessed week!
Robin
