Prayer Requests:
Women’s Bible Study: Tonight at 6pm at Renee Corbett’s house. There will be some parking at the house. If you are able, she suggests you park at the parking lot on the left side as you turn on to Hill Street and walk up to the house.
Men’s Bible Study: There will be a men’s Bible study at Dave Corbett’s house at 6 pm. All men are welcome.
Women of Witness Helping Hands: It is time once again for WOW to begin collecting school supplies for area children. Please consider donating bookbags, notebooks, pencils, crayons or any other items suggested on the school lists. Donations can be given to Robin or placed in collection boxes found at area stores or just outside of the Women of Witness office (305 Main St). Also, if you would like assistance with school supplies, see Robin. Thanks and God bless.
Stewardship: The careful and responsible management of something entrusted to one’s care. If you turn on an air conditioner, please turn it off. On Monday mornings for the past 3 weeks I have found AC Units running with doors wide open. This week’s wasn’t found until Wednesday.
Congratulations! Walt Osborne and Cheryl Matthews were united in Holy Matrimony on Saturday. Rejoice with them as they thank God for this blessed event.
I was having a talk with the Lord the other day and discussing my wonder about those members of Word Worship Center who did not attend the revival even one night. He spoke to my heart and said, “Robin, I told you in My Word that the poor would always be among you.” I said, “Yes, Lord. But You were talking about people who didn’t have money.” He quietly said, “Selah.” (Think about it.)
As I pondered on this little exchange, I thought about how the word “poor” might have a definition beyond “no money”. So I looked it up in the dictionary.
First definition: having little or no money, goods, or other means of support; nothing different here to bring me to an understanding.
Definition number three started to get my attention: meagerly supplied or endowed with resources. Hmmmm. Could it be that some are meagerly supplied with the spiritual resources supplied to us by God Himself? Why that would be like the poor of this world having a grocery store in the neighborhood offering free groceries but a person walks out with a pack of gum to help them “get by”. Insane!!
And then definition number five jumped out at me: deficient or lacking in something specified. The Word of God teems with Scriptures to help us fight our flesh and commit ourselves wholeheartedly to God. When you love the Lord with all your heart, and all your soul, and all your strength, you want to be with Him at every opportunity. You’ll love what He loves and hate what He hates. And as I realized how very much He loved the revival I grew sad.
My heart aches with the thought that my beloved church family includes those who are allowing themselves to be deficient of the Word of God. And then I feel angry at Satan because the Scripture reads, For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Satan is working so slyly against my loved ones! How I wish he were in the pit already! He is defeated by the testimony of our mouths. Are you living a testimony?
Sweethearts, I have a Word of encouragement for you. It says in Deuteronomy 15:4 However, there should be no poor among you, for in the land the LORD your God is giving you to possess as your inheritance, he will richly bless you!
Beloved, your inheritance is Heaven and each and every hour we spend upon this earth is an hour closer to entering in to that promised land where the streets are gold and where our Lover abides! Stop living like a pauper! Remember: he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

I would rather live my life as if there is a God and die to find out there isn't, than live my life as if there isn't and die to find out there is.
Q. What do they call pastors in Germany? A. German Shepherds.
AFTER A FEW OF THE USUAL SUNDAY EVENING HYMNS, THE CHURCH'S PASTOR SLOWLY STOOD UP, WALKED OVER TO THE PULPIT AND, BEFORE HE GAVE HIS SERMON FOR THE EVENING, HE BRIEFLY INTRODUCED A GUEST MINISTER WHO WAS IN THE SERVICE THAT EVENING. IN THE INTRODUCTION, THE PASTOR TOLD THE CONGREGATION THAT THE GUEST MINISTER WAS ONE OF HIS DEAREST CHILDHOOD FRIENDS AND THAT HE WANTED HIM TO HAVE A FEW MOMENTS TO GREET THE CHURCH AND SHARE WHATEVER HE FELT WOULD BE APPROPRIATE FOR THE SERVICE.
WITH THAT, AN ELDERLY MAN STEPPED UP TO THE PULPIT AND BEGAN TO SPEAK. 'A FATHER, HIS SON, AND A FRIEND OF HIS SON WERE SAILING OFF THE PACIFIC COAST ,' HE BEGAN. 'WHEN A FAST APPROACHING STORM BLOCKED ANY ATTEMPT TO GET BACK TO THE SHORE. THE WAVES WERE SO HIGH, THAT EVEN THOUGH THE FATHER WAS AN EXPERIENCED SAILOR, HE COULD NOT KEEP THE BOAT UPRIGHT AND THE THREE WERE SWEPT INTO THE OCEAN AS THE BOAT CAPSIZED.' THE OLD MAN HESITATED FOR A MOMENT, MAKING EYE CONTACT WITH TWO TEENAGERS WHO WERE, FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE THE SERVICE BEGAN, LOOKING SOMEWHAT INTERESTED IN HIS STORY.
THE AGED MINISTER CONTINUED WITH HIS STORY, 'GRABBING A RESCUE LINE, THE FATHER HAD TO MAKE THE MOST EXCRUCIATING DECISION OF HIS LIFE: TO WHICH BOY WOULD HE THROW THE OTHER END OF THE LIFE LINE. HE ONLY HAD SECONDS TO MAKE THE DECISION. THE FATHER KNEW THAT HIS SON WAS A CHRISTIAN AND HE, ALSO, KNEW THAT HIS SON'S FRIEND WAS NOT. THE AGONY OF HIS DECISION COULD NOT BE MATCHED BY THE TORRENT OF WAVES. AS THE FATHER YELLED OUT, 'I LOVE YOU, SON!' HE THREW OUT THE LIFE LINE TO HIS SON'S FRIEND. BY THE TIME THE FATHER HAD PULLED THE FRIEND BACK TO THE CAPSIZED BOAT, HIS SON HAD DISAPPEARED BENEATH THE RAGING WELLS INTO THE BLACK OF NIGHT. HIS BODY WAS NEVER RECOVERED.
BY THIS TIME, THE TWO TEENAGERS WERE SITTING UP STRAIGHT IN THE PEW, ANXIOUSLY WAITING FOR THE NEXT WORDS TO COME OUT OF THE OLD MINISTER'S MOUTH.
'THE FATHER,' HE CONTINUED, 'KNEW HIS SON WOULD STEP INTO ETERNITY WITH JESUS AND HE COULD NOT BEAR THE THOUGHT OF HIS SON'S FRIEND STEPPING INTO AN ETERNITY WITHOUT JESUS.. THEREFORE, HE SACRIFICED HIS SON TO SAVE THE SON'S FRIEND.
' HOW GREAT IS THE LOVE OF GOD THAT HE SHOULD DO THE SAME FOR US. OUR HEAVENLY FATHER SACRIFICED HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON THAT WE COULD BE SAVED. I URGE YOU TO ACCEPT HIS OFFER TO RESCUE YOU AND TAKE A HOLD OF THE LIFE LINE HE IS THROWING OUT TO YOU IN THIS SERVICE.'
WITH THAT, THE OLD MAN TURNED AND SAT BACK DOWN IN HIS CHAIR AS SILENCE FILLED THE ROOM. THE PASTOR AGAIN WALKED SLOWLY TO THE PULPIT AND DELIVERED A BRIEF SERMON WITH AN INVITATION AT THE END. HOWEVER, NO ONE RESPONDED TO THE APPEAL.
WITHIN MINUTES AFTER THE SERVICE ENDED, THE TWO TEENAGERS WERE AT THE OLD MAN'S SIDE. 'THAT WAS A NICE STORY,' POLITELY STATED ONE OF THEM,'BUT I DON'T THINK IT WAS VERY REALISTIC FOR A FATHER TO GIVE UP HIS ONLY SON'S LIFE IN HOPES THAT THE OTHER BOY WOULD BECOME A CHRISTIAN.'
'WELL, YOU'VE GOT A POINT THERE,' THE OLD MAN REPLIED, GLANCING DOWN AT HIS WORN BIBLE. A BIG SMILE BROADENED HIS NARROW FACE. HE ONCE AGAIN LOOKED UP AT THE BOYS AND SAID, 'IT SURE ISN'T VERY REALISTIC, IS IT? BUT, I'M STANDING HERE TODAY TO TELL YOU THAT STORY GIVES ME A GLIMPSE OF WHAT IT MUST HAVE BEEN LIKE FOR GOD TO GIVE UP HIS SON FOR ME. YOU SEE... I WAS THAT FATHER AND YOUR PASTOR IS MY SON'S FRIEND.'

Can you help? We have come in contact with a lady who needs some help. Just wondered if you might have something she needs. Dish towels, bath towels, a curtain rod, 4T boys clothes, 3T girls clothes, 3 dressers, women’s 9/9 ½ shoes, boys wide 8 ½ shoes, size 16 or 18 boys clothes, and mom’s bedroom is bare right now (her favorite color is purple). See Robin or Renee Corbett.
How do you feel about changes in your life? Maybe you’re the adventurous type who gets excited about facing new challenges and meeting new people. Or do you like life to remain the same?
Certainly some changes, such as serious illness or a death in the family, are extremely traumatic and life-altering. But most of the changes in your life evolve over time and are so subtle you hardly notice what’s happening.
The book of Genesis is overflowing with changes and relationships. God created a perfect world. Then sin entered and everything changed. A flood wiped out all life except those on the ark – more change. Broken family relationships led to murder and slavery. Mended relationships brought forgiveness and reconciliation. But through it all, God never changed, and He never will. God’s faithfulness, His love and His forgiveness for His children are a constant throughout this book. At the very heart of Genesis is God’s unwavering desire for a loving relationship with His people, as seen in the promise given to Abraham. Ultimately, “all peoples on earth” would have an opportunity for an intimate relationship with God – through the coming of Jesus, our Savior.
Changes are sure to come into your life. Are you ready to face them with joy and confidence? You can, because God’s love for you never changes!
You are officially challenged to read the book of Genesis this week!
Read Genesis 9:12-16 and you’ll see that God loves His people. You can trust Him to keep all His promises!
You’ll face many temptations to disobey God and “do what everyone else is doing.” Pray that God will help you resist those temptations. Check out Genesis 39:6-10
It’s difficult to see God’s plan when bad things happen to you. But be assured that God knows what’s going on and is in control. Read Genesis 50:18-20

Have you ever given up on someone because you feel they are a lost cause? Keep praying daily for that person. God can soften the hardest of hearts. Check out Ezra 6: 19-22.
Are you one of those folks who learn things the hard way? Save yourself some grief and give God’s rules a chance. Check out Psalm 19:7-8
News flash: Sin may seem glitzier than following Christ, but it doesn’t have any of these benefits: forgiveness, healing, redemption, love and the total fulfillment of your desires. Check out Psalm 103:1-5
Do you ever wish you felt more sure of yourself? More confident? Maybe you decide to do something about it and get a little more assertive – your friends notice that you’ve started sportin’ a little attitude. Problem solved? Not really. You see, that kind of confidence – talking louder and trying to get noticed – is just on the outside, and it doesn’t last. Real confidence comes from righteousness – God’s righteousness – at work in your heart. Real confidence comes from depending on Him and not on you. And nothing can take that kind of confidence away – it’s yours forever. Check out Isaiah 32:17
Which kind of fig are you? A bad fig, ignoring God and what He’s trying to teach you? Or a good fig with a teachable heart that learns from God’s discipline? Check out Jeremiah 24:1-10
It’s pretty hard to stay completely dry in a rain shower. When God decides to shower you with blessings – watch out! You’re gonna get drenched! Check out Ezekiel 34:25-31
Being wealthy isn’t a bad thing. But Jesus did want to give us a big warning. Don’t let your $$$ distract you from the true treasure – Jesus. Check out Matthew 19:21-24
Ever have someone argue with you or attack you about your faith? Be ready to explain your faith, but rely on the Holy Spirit to provide the right words. Check out Mark 13:11
Being a servant isn’t optional. You will serve something with your life. Whether it’s God or money is your choice. Check out Luke 16:14
You have easy access to spiritual resources, like Bibles and devotionals. But the best materials won’t help you if they’re only collecting dust. Open your eyes, ears and heart. Check out Acts 28:23-28
Since God loves everyone, what does it say about your love for him when you totally dismiss someone he sent His Son to die for? Check out 1 John 2:9
Why would anyone tear their own house down? Actually, it’s easier than you think. Don’t let bitterness, manipulation and selfishness rule (and ruin) your relationships. Check out Proverbs 14:1
