The Whale If you read the front page story of the SF Chronicle, you would have read about a female humpback whale who had become entangled in a spider web of crab traps and lines. She was weighted down by hundreds of pounds of traps that caused her to struggle to stay afloat. She also had hundreds of yards of line rope wrapped around her body, her tail, her torso, a line tugging in her mouth. A fisherman spotted her just east of the Farralone Islands (outside the Golden Gate) and radioed an environmental group for help. Within a few hours, the rescue team arrived and determined that she was so bad off, the only way to save her was to dive in and untangle her ... a very dangerous proposition. One slap of the tail could kill a rescuer. They worked for hours with curved knives and eventually freed her. When she was free, the divers say she swam in what seemed like joyous circles. She then came back to each and every diver, one at a time, and nudged them, pushed gently around-she thanked them. Some said it was the most incredibly beautiful experience of their lives. The guy who cut the rope out of her mouth says her eye was following him the whole time, and he will never be the same. May you, and all those you love, be so blessed and fortunate .. to be surrounded by people who will help you get untangled from the things that are binding you. And, may you always know the joy of giving and receiving gratitude.
Wednesday Night: If you have a testimony, a poem, a story, a scripture reading, anything you read or heard that God used to move your heart, please plan to share it Wednesday night.
Our Father, who are in Heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name, Thy Kingdom Come, Thy Will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day, our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who Trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the Kingdom, and the Power, and the Glory, forever. Amen.
Christmas Blessings: Don’t let the business of the season rob you of this opportunity to give in the name of the Lord. There are families out there worse off than you are and they will be grateful when they receive their Christmas Blessing.
This was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fullness of bread, and abundance of idleness…neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good. Ezekiel 16:49,50

A Thanksgiving Fellowship is planned for November 19 right after service. Please sign-up on the sheet hanging on the bulletin board in the vestibule at the Walnut Street entrance. This will be a covered dish dinner. We have a ham donated. There was plenty of drink left over from the spaghetti benefit so we are changing the alphabet division to: A - M bring a side dish and N – Z bring a dessert. Thanks.
Meeting at Pastor’s House: There will be a meeting at the Pastor’s house this Tuesday at 6:30pm for all Sunday School teachers and anyone interested in becoming a teacher. Remember: God doesn’t call the qualified. He qualifies the called
Holiday Bazaar: God “had my back” this week and I want to publicly thank Him I didn’t call Hopewell School early enough to get a table at their Bazaar and when I called they were out of room. The lady I spoke with took my name for next year and we left it at that. The next morning she called me back and said they would open a hall for me if I didn’t mind that. I didn’t waste a second in accepting the space. Then she offered me 2 tables for the price of one. God is so GOOD! We have quite a bit of stuff left over from Bazaars in the past but if you have something to donate it would be welcomed. I can use baked goods and hand made crafts. But what I need most of all is someone to relieve me for a moment should I need to go to the restroom or someone to sit with me. It is Saturday from 9am to 3pm. Proceeds go to the general operations of the church.
CH… CH… CH …CH… CHANGES
Our Wednesday Night format is undergoing a small change but will bless your heart if you allow it. We will sing a few songs and then allow the Lord to minister through the body of Christ. You might have a testimony that would lift up His name, or perhaps you’ll have something to share that ministered to you when you read it. Maybe a poem, a story, a scripture reading, anything you read or heard that God used to move your heart. If you will prayerfully be open to the move of the Spirit and be obedient to His direction, I’m sure He will bless us all and we’ll experience growth. This will be a time of maybe 10 minutes before we dismiss as usual for the Bible study.

A mom was concerned about her kindergarten son walking to school. He didn't want his mother to walk with him. She wanted to give him the feeling that he had some independence but yet know that he was safe. So she had an idea of how to handle it. She asked a neighbor, Mrs. Goodnest, if she would please follow him to school in the mornings, staying at a distance, so he probably wouldn't notice her.
Mrs. Goodnest said that since she was up early with her toddler anyway, it would be a good way for them to get some exercise as well, so she agreed. The next school day, Mrs. Goodnest and her little girl, Marcy, set out following behind Timmy as he walked to school with another neighbor boy he knew. She did this for the whole week. As the boys walked and chatted, kicking stones and twigs, Timmy’s little friend noticed the same lady was following them as she seemed to do every day all week. Finally he said to Timmy, "Have you noticed that lady following us to school all week? Do you know her?" Timmy nonchalantly replied, "Yeah, I know who she is". The friend said, "Well, who is she"? "That's just Shirley Goodnest", Timmy replied, "and her daughter Marcy". "Shirley Goodnest? Who the heck is she and why is she following us"? "Well", Timmy explained, "every night my Mom makes me say the 23rd Psalm with my prayers, 'cuz she worries about me so much. And in the Psalm, it says, 'Shirley Goodnest and Marcy shall follow me all the days of my life', so I guess I'll just have to get used to it"!
The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you; the Lord lift His countenance upon you, and give you peace. Numbers 6:22-26
May Shirley Goodnest and Marcy be with you today, and always.

VBS Meeting: There will be a short meeting on Monday, November 6 at 6:30pm. Will last around an hour. This year’s program will be created by WWC talent rather than purchasing a pre-made program. We need actors to come especially to help put this together. This meeting is for everyone who is interested in ministering to the kids. It will be at Cindy Coakley’s house.
Spaghetti Dinner: God is so good! Thank you all so much for your hard work, donations, love and support. The event raised $3417 to pay on our medical bills. May it never be said that Word Worship Center doesn’t love its Pastor We thank God for being our Provider. The Anchor does indeed hold!! It was a wonderful evening that will remain in the depths of our memories for the rest of our lives. Jesus answered our heart’s prayer and a soul was won for the kingdom. We love you with a great love.
I was driving home from a meeting this evening about 5, stuck in traffic on Colorado Blvd., and the car started to choke and splutter and die - I barely managed to coast, cursing, into a gas station, glad only that I would not be blocking traffic and would have a somewhat warm spot to wait for the tow truck. It wouldn't even turn over. Before I could make the call, I saw a woman walking out of the "quickie mart" building, and it looked like she slipped on some ice and fell into a Gas pump, so I got out to see if she was okay. When I got there, it looked more like she had been overcome by sobs than that she had fallen; she was a young woman who looked really haggard with dark circles under her eyes. She dropped something as I helped her up, and I picked it up to give it to her. It was a nickel. At that moment, everything came into focus for me: the crying woman, the ancient Suburban crammed full of stuff with 3 kids in the back (1 in a car seat), and the gas pump reading $4.95. I asked her if she was okay and if she needed help, and she just kept saying "I don't want my kids to see me crying," so we stood on the other side of the pump from her car. She said she was driving to California and that things were very hard for her right now. So I asked, "And you were praying?” That made her back away from me a little, but I assured her I was not a crazy person and said, "He heard you, and He sent me." I took out my card and swiped it through the card reader on the pump so she could fill up her car completely, and while it was fueling, walked to the next door McDonald's and bought 2 big bags of food, some gift certificates for more, and a big cup of coffee. She gave the food to the kids in the car, who attacked it like wolves, and we stood by the pump eating fries and talking a little. She told me her name, and that she lived in Kansas City . Her boyfriend left 2 months ago and she had not been able to make ends meet. She knew she wouldn’t have money to pay rent Jan 1, and finally in desperation had finally called her parents, with whom she had not spoken in about 5 years. They lived in California and said she could come live with them and try to get on her feet there. So she packed up everything she owned in the car She told the kids they were going to California for Christmas, but not that they were going to live there. I gave her my gloves, a little hug and said a quick prayer with her for safety on the road. As I was walking over to my car, she said, "So, are you like an angel or something?” This definitely made me cry. I said, "Sweetie, at this time of year angels are really busy, so sometimes God uses regular people.” It was so incredible to be a part of someone else's miracle. And of course, you guessed it, when I got in my car it started right away and got me home with no problem. I'll put it in the shop tomorrow to check, but I suspect the mechanic won't find anything wrong. Sometimes the angels fly close enough to you that you can hear the flutter of their wings... Psalms 55:22 "Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and He shall sustain thee. He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved."
