Good for Goodness Sake! II

Not only is the American Humanist Association spending thousands of dollars on bus ads, it seems the British are throwing themselves into the mix as well. The British Humanist Association in partnership with Professor Richard Dawkins, the author of the atheistic book, The God Delusion, have raised quite a bit of money for their little campaign. Their ads are even more illogical than America’s; There’s probably no God. Now stop worrying and enjoy life.

Now, let’s see; the AHA tells us to be good just for goodness’ sake and the BHA tells us to stop worrying and just enjoy life. I can’t figure this one out, but let me try! Both of these organizations are implying that there is probably no God. One tells us to stop worrying and enjoy life while the other tells us to just be good for goodness’ sake. The first thing that comes to mind is the fact that if I am doing good there is no reason for me to worry. But the ad goes further;
stop worrying and enjoy life! Wait a minute here. If I am being good for goodness’ sake alone, then I should be enjoying my life of “being good.” What does the ad imply when it tells us to stop worrying? Is it not telling us that there is really no threat of eternal punishment because there is probably no God?

But didn’t God tell us that if we did right we would be accepted?
Gen.4:7 And Jesus even told us that those who did good would rise to eternal life. John 5:29 So, my question to all agnostics and atheist would be; why would you worry if you are already being good (for goodness’ sake)? There should be no threat of eternal punishment hanging over your head.

Hanne Stinson, chief executive of the BHA believes that the bus ads are “overwhelmingly positive” and were intended to reassure agnostics and atheist that there is nothing wrong with not believing in God. Positive? You mean to tell me that these same folks who deny a loving Sovereign Creator, because of all the evil that exists in our world, are now telling us that denying that this God exists is overwhelmingly positive?

Then what are we to do about the existence of evil? Is it going to be around all my life? What is so positive about that? These folks confuse me! And I really don’t think the problem lies with me here. I think they’re hiding something. I think they really want the freedom to live any way they want (be it good or bad) and not feel they will be accountable for their actions. I think they have a problem with only one God.

I don’t see them writing anything like;
There is no Allah… on the buses. No, they have a problem with Jesus Christ and His God. Because, deep down, they know He is right and every time they think about it, they stand condemned even in their own conscience.

You must understand, Christian, these folks aren’t “evil” people. Some are Philanthropists, humanitarians and highly educated people who have witnessed the injustices of this life. Then comes along some “Christian” whose actions don’t line up with their talk; and the hypocrisy is the last straw on the camel’s back.

News flash for every Christian; Jesus loves Prof. Dawkins and his band of confused “merry men” just as much as He loves Christians. The only difference between them, and us is that we believe and receive the love Christ has for us. You see, when a person believes the Gospel, the threat of eternal punishment vanishes and now he can go on in hope that this Loving God will also do away with all evil and injustice. A man without hope cannot enjoy life. And a man who believes that this is all there is to life (i.e. there’s probably no God) cannot have the same measure of hope as does the Christian. So, I’m coming out with a new ad.
Living as if there is no God? Don’t hope on it!
